What does Beauty mean to you? 

Beauty means having the ability to love one’s self and exude that confidence whether you are wearing a tshirt and sweats or an evening gown  

If you could go back to your younger self what would you say to her? 

Slow down, the best things in life take time. Take the time to learn about yourself, and in learning about yourself, you will begin to love yourself.

You’re not beautiful for a dark skin girl…

What does Beauty mean to you?

 Beauty is complex. There are multiple layers to me that make me beautiful. That’s what complexity is. A characterization of something with many parts that interact with each other in multiple ways. My intellect, my lips, my generosity, my go getter attitude all make me the woman I am and they all work collectively to make me beautiful. 

If you could go back and speak to your younger self what
would you say to her?

You’re not beautiful for a dark skin girl. Your skin doesn’t define your beauty. Your intellect & character define the girl you are and woman you will become. I want to instill that in my daughter.  

She’s powerful and unique.

What does Beauty mean to you? 

 Being happy and accepting myself as I am.

 If you could go back to your younger self what would you say to her? 

 I would tell her to embrace her sensitivity, not to apologize for who she is and remind her that she’s powerful and unique.
