“Embrace the unknown…”

What does Beauty mean to you?
Beauty to me is an inner positive energy that radiates outward and allows for you to be and feel empower. It is also the ability to shine bright.

If you could go back to your younger self what would you say to her?
If I could go back to my younger self, I would tell her to embrace the unknown and not allow fears or failure to stop her from exposing her beauty.

“I came to love the richness of my deep chocolate tone.”

What do you feel is your most beautiful feature?
My most beautiful physical feature is my skin. I actually love to lay on stark white sheets and look at the contrast against my skin. I did not always love this skin mine in a world that told me that I was “pretty for a dark-skinned girl” but as I grew older I came to love the richness of my deep chocolate tone.
My most beautiful emotional feature is my sense of empathy. I often feel a responsibility to put myself in the shoes of others in order to better understand why they do what they do. This feature makes me a better friend, lover, and sister.

If you could go back and speak to your younger self what would you say to her?
To my younger self, I would offer words of wisdom around taking more risks. Risks such as loving without regard, traveling without consequence, and pursuing a relationship with Christ unapologetically.

“The spirit that created all life is inside…”

What do you feel is your most beautiful feature?
At first I was tempted to say my eyes by default because I think everyone’s eyes are their most telling feature, but after looking in the mirror with deeper inquiry I’m inclined to choose my mole between my lips and nose. We have a touchy relationship. When I tell you I used to hate this mole, you have no idea! First of all I didn’t know where it came from, one day I just realized it was there. Me and my king joke around all the time about tracking it in old photos to find out when it made its appearance lol. But this is exactly why I’m choosing it, I hated it for so long because people around me used to make fun of it (that Austin Powers movie did NOT help ) so much that it made me not only uncomfortable about it, but unhappy with it. Today I find myself completely aware of who I am and because of that I love this mole. I love it because it has become a unique part of my beauty. Sure, others have similar “beauty marks” like the legendary Cindy Crawford, which surprisingly didn’t make it any easier to live with mine through adolescence.

If you could go back to your younger self what would you say to her?
“Priscilla, stop looking outside of yourself for validation, support, love, beauty, etc. You will always be left wanting until you learn to look inside, it’s all inside of you. You might not like everything in there but you have to come to terms with it all and know that you have the power to change the things you put in there. The spirit that created all life is inside, and finding it, finding yourself begins with healing yourself.”
